Canoë

Our internal tool

Canoë is an in-home computer tutoring business for seniors, in Montréal. This page describes the internal tool we use to manage our own accounts, and nothing else.

What this tool does

It is a management tool we wrote for ourselves. It does three things: it builds and adjusts our advertising campaigns inside our own Google Ads account (budgets, ad groups, keywords, ads), it reads that account’s performance reports and our own site’s Search Console data, and it publishes our lesson sheets into our own Google documents.

It runs on our servers, when we run it. It is not distributed, not sold, and has no users outside our team.

Who uses it

The Canoë team, and nobody else. There is no sign-up, no account creation, and no sign-in for any third party. No client, no teacher and no site visitor can reach it, directly or indirectly.

Which Google data it touches

Only the data in our own accounts. The tool authenticates with a service account, a technical identity that belongs to us, added as a user of our advertising account and of our own property in Search Console.

It therefore never requests access to anyone’s Google account. Nobody is ever shown a consent screen for it, because there is nobody to show it to: a service account does not display one. This tool collects, stores and transmits no Google user data.

Canoë’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

What it does not do

It is not used for targeted advertising aimed at individuals, it trains no artificial intelligence model, it assesses nobody’s creditworthiness, and it neither sells nor transfers data to anyone.

Privacy

What Canoë collects, why, for how long, and how to have it deleted is described in full in our privacy policy.
